Hellen Chaile Mayungo, a primary school teacher based in the vibrant city of Kitwe, Zambia, has woven her life’s story into a harmonious tapestry of faith, determination, and a passion for music. She is a devoted wife and a proud mother of three.
Born with a speech delay, her journey to becoming a gifted singer and devoted servant of the Lord began with a joyful outburst during a choir practice, breaking the silence that once enveloped her childhood. In the warm embrace of her parents, both choir members in the town of NdoIa, Hellen’s early years were filled with the soothing melodies of gospel music. It was during one such choir rehearsal when the music director played the note “Doh” in the tonic sofa exercise, and to everyone’s delight, young Hellen joyfully exclaimed “Doh.” That unforgettable moment marked the beginning of her speech and opened the doors to a lifetime of singing and self-expression.
From the tender age of three, Hellen’s voice rang out in song, captivating the hearts of those around her. Her talent blossomed as she embraced the power of music, and soon, she found herself performing with various choirs, including the Errands Choir and the Copperbelt Heritage Choir. Hellen’s musical journey continued as she sang with the Heavenly Seekers from Kitwe Central Church and the Prophetic Chords, showcasing her versatility and range as a gifted vocalist.
Not only did Hellen showcase her vocal prowess through ensemble performances, but she also joined her family singing group, the Chaile Family Singers, in which the harmonies of kinship blended with an unyielding devotion to their shared passion for music.
In 2014, a new chapter in Hellen’s musical journey unfolded when she became one of the founding members of the illustrious Clarion Call. The all-female gospel music group became a vessel through which Hellen could use her melodic gift to serve the Lord, spreading His word and grace through music. With her rich and powerful voice, Hellen takes on the lower contra-alto range, lending depth and resonance to the group’s soul-stirring performances.
Beyond her remarkable vocal talents, Hellen’s dedication to the group extends to her role as the Wardrobe Coordinator, ensuring that each member is adorned with grace and elegance during their performances. Moreover, she serves as an Assistant Music Director, guiding and inspiring the group to deliver breathtaking performances that touch the hearts of audiences around the world.
Outside the realm of music, Hellen’s hobbies encompass a love for travel, reading, culinary arts, and connecting with others. She finds joy in making new friends and cherishing the company of loved ones. Her passion for cooking is equally matched by her love for immersing herself in the world of television.
